Beards the Jeweller are always looking to bring the best of the Jewellery and watch world to our clients.
So, we are incredibly proud to announce the arrival, at our London Showroom, of one of the most revered Swiss watch brands, Parmigiani.
The Parmigiani Fleurier brand was created and officially launched at the Beau-Rivage Palace, Lausanne, on 29th May 1996. The intention was to be a brand rich in expert craftsmanship, at the cutting edge of watchmaking. The brand reflects the calibre of Michel Parmigiani’s work.
Michel Parmigiani, a timepiece restorer, opened his traditional watch workshop in Couvet. During the day, he restored antique pieces; in his spare time, he gave free reign to his creativity, dreaming up complex horological pieces.
In 1999 Michel unveiled the Toric QP Retrograde, his first wristwatch for Parmigiani Fleurier. The piece has a bezel with alternating gadroons and knurling, a distinctive style which would go on to become one of the brand’s aesthetic hallmarks.
Since then the company has been producing some of the most creative, daring and sophisticated timepieces.
In 2004 Parmigiani Fleurier signed a partnership with Bugatti, unveiling the Bugatti Type 370, a timepiece which defies all conventions of watchmaking. Assembled along a horizontal axis, and in a tubular formation – evoking a car’s engine – the Bugatti Type 370 was a world first, and the best possible illustration of an independent watchmaking centre forging its own history.
For the 10th Anniversary of this wonderful partnership Parmigiani Fleurier with three exclusive limited editions based on the famous Bugatti 370 timepiece created to mark the start of the collaboration.
Also, in 2004 they would unveil the Tonda 42 Tourbillon, equipped with a 30-second tourbillon, produced entirely in-house. A timeless design it would be a sensation.
The Parmigiani Fleurier Collection for Women is born with the introduction of the Kalparisma Nova, a watch with refined touches such as the gems set in a constellation, and the tiny star at 6 o’clock which indicates the seconds.
Parmigiani have never rested on the laurels and todays collection marry this deign ethos to unparalleled watchmaking skill.
Parmigiani Fleurier chose industrial independence very early on in its history.
This provides the freedom to practise cutting-edge watchmaking, versatile and technically advanced, enabling creativity to be expressed without limitations.
The dials with their meticulous decorations; the cases in the most complex designs; but also the heart of the watch, the regulating organ and its balance-spring, and each of the tiny screws and gears, barely visible to the naked eye, which form the movement.
In the centre for industrial craftsmanship, designers rub shoulders with engineers, and artisans work side-by-side with high-end watchmakers.
Behind a single watch there are more than 50 professions and the history of a centre of expertise, working together in the Swiss Juras region to revive the art of watchmaking, day after day.
Through this watchmaking centre, the values dear to Michel Parmigiani are respected – craftsmanship, technical skill, manual dexterity, and meticulous attention to each and every detail.
He learned these values in his career as a restorer, and has been practising them tirelessly ever since in his work as a watchmaker.
Each watch embodies the personality of Michel Parmigiani, the Brand’s founder, renowned restorer, and visionary watchmaker.
