Breitling Navitimer – Rare Cursive B 806 – Red Box 10

14 April 2016

This exceptional vintage Breitling Navitimer was made for just over one year, and is one of the rarest known configurations, with a series of highly attractive features.

First, there’s the very rare logo: a cursive “B” and “Breitling Geneve” in silver ink. This dial was only used for about a year and a half in 1967 and 1968. Then there are the “Red Box 10s” – starting in about 1967, Breitling began to put red boxes around the 10 indicators on the slide rule. They only did this up to 1969. This piece has the original matched set (replacement outer scales typically omit the boxed 10).

As for the condition of the watch, could it be any better? With some very light use, the watch is nevertheless unpolished. The case shoulders have laser-clean transitions, and the movement and case internals are fresh and bright. The dial exceptional, with a deep, smooth lacquer, and silver sub-dials (small size) as fresh as they were in 1968. The first owner had the watch engraved to commemorate the date he obtained his pilot’s licence in the USA. We can share his information with the eventual new owner.

The world’s top Navitimer collector said he has only ever seen about six examples like this. Serviced, and with a two-year Watch Club warranty, there’s no other Breitling on the market today that’s nearly as exciting!
